Southwood Club / Chung Ku Restaurant Wedding | Jo & Rob

Ceremony: Central Methodist Church, Brighouse
Saturday Reception: Southwood Club, Halifax
Sunday Reception: Chung Ku Restaurant, Liverpool

Second-shooting with Gav Harrison

Jo & Rob's Anglo-Chinese wedding was an unusual one for us, with it being a 2-day celebration.

The first day was in Brighouse and Halifax, with a ceremony at the Central Methodist Church, followed by a reception at the Southwood Club in Halifax. I met Rob and the lad's at Jo & Rob's flat in Halifax for bacon sarnies and preparation photos. Rob started off very relaxed but the nerves started to show a bit as time went on. He needn't have worried. After a couple of minor panics when the cravats disappeared and the lads had problems attaching the ribbon to the car, it all turned out fine in the end.
The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and, unusually, trees down the aisle and a slide show on a big screen during the signing of the register caused  a few guests to reach for the tissues.
The weather, although warm, kept threatening to rain, so Gav had to usher everyone outside The Southwood Club quickly during a dry 10 minutes to get the group photos done.
Later on, we managed to get some lovely shots of Jo & Rob around the gardens in the evening light.

The following day, we set off early for Liverpool, where we met Jo & Rob at their hotel, before heading off around various landmarks, including the Royal Liver Building, to take a few shots.
The afternoon reception at Chung Ku was great fun, spectacular and quite an experience, with the colourful lion dancers and their deafening percussionists and equally deafening firecrackers.
The traditional tea ceremony involved the couple serving tea to their parents and family elders, then Rob's dad went round all the tables - all 40 of them - toasting all the guests with cognac. Needless to say, he was very happy by the time he'd been round them all!

A wonderful couple and a fantastic weekend. Congratulations to Jo & Rob and thank you for letting us be part of your special days.
