Ceremony: St John The Baptist's Church, Royston, Barnsley
Reception: Bagden Hall, Scissett, Huddersfield
Second-shooting with Gav Harrison
Back at Bagden Hall again this week, our second home, but first I went to meet Mike & the lads at home in Barnsley. There was only Mike there when I arrived but it wasn't long before the house was buzzing with friends and family. The weather appeared to be much better than had been forecast so everyone had their fingers crossed that it would hold out for the rest of the day.
The ceremony was held just down the road from the house at St John The Baptist's in Royston, a beautiful (and huge) 12th century church. Once again I was fortunate to be able to position myself in the gallery at the back of the church so I had a great view of the proceedings. Sarah entered the church with a massive smile and that didn't waver all day. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of the weather (sorry to bang on about it). It was fine when we came out of the church and Sarah and Mike had requested some family group photos outside the church, so Gav sorted those while I took some candid shots of other guests.
Back at Bagden, it was a slightly different story. Gav was just organising the last few guests for the big group when it decided to chuck it down and everyone dived back indoors before he had a chance to take the shot. We waited 10 mins, during which time the sun came out and then it chucked it down again, and then managed to get everyone out for just long enough get the big group and the friends group before it started to rain yet again.
Thankfully, Bagden is one of those venues where there are indoor options so the remaining family groups were done inside - PHEW! It was great to have such a sporting group of people to work with and, to be honest, we used some areas and features that we don't normally use and ended up with some really lovely shots.
Congratulations and a great big thank you to Sarah & Mike and their family and friends for such an enjoyable day.
