Augill Castle Wedding | Anntonina & Timothy

Ceremony & Reception: Augill Castle, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria

Second-shooting with Gav Harrison

We first met Anntonina & Tim at Liz & Dylan's fab Beatles themed wedding, way back in 2011, where Tim was one of Dylan's best men. Today, Dylan was returning the compliment.
This was a completely different type of wedding to Liz and Dylan's but promised to be just as much fun.
The journey up the A1 was very foggy and we were hoping it would clear so that we could really make the most of the beautiful venue, Augill Castle. We reached Scotch Corner and suddenly the sun appeared and the second part of the journey (the picturesque bit) was breathtaking. Unfortunately, when we got to within 2 miles of the Castle and the fog descended again, thicker than ever and the temperature dropped like a stone - typical!
Fortunately, when we arrived at the castle, we realised that the fog gave the place an eerie character and, although it made shooting a bit of a challenge at times.
Despite appearances, the castle is actually a folly, built in the 1840s. The current owners, Simon & Wendy, have created a magical, informal homely ambience with a real old castle feel. I suppose the fog helped but you really feel that you are miles from anywhere here. It's amazing.
Anntonina & Tim's are both musicians and music was definitely the theme of the ceremony and the evening reception, which featured an intimate performance by the incredible jazz singer, Lianne Carroll.
What a fantastic venue and a great fun day. It was lovely to see some familiar faces again and a privilege to stand at the end of Lianne Carroll's piano for the whole performance.

Congratulations to a wonderful couple and thank you for a brilliant day.
