Event Photography | Clayton Dickensian Market | 4th December 2010

The Dickensian Market has been my adopted home village of Clayton's big annual event for a number of years and this year was the biggest one yet with nearly 100 stalls selling all sorts of interesting stuff, from toys and games to cakes and snacks along with a mini fun-fair to keep the kids entertained! Church, sports and social organisations based in the village also held fund-raising stalls and local business took the opportunity to join in the fun.
Despite the recent bad weather, it was decided that the market would go ahead, no matter what. Roads and pavements were cleared and everything went ahead as planned, in fact business was brisk all day.
Entertainment was provided by the excellent local street band, The Peace Artistes, who's lively carnival-style music definitely took the edge off the freezing temperatures. There was also a pipe band, who led the parade of the Snow Queen, and several brass bands, including a French Horn quartet.
I've been asked to help out with next years event, which I'm really excited about, and to help update the website and produce some promotional material, so watch this space!

Architectural Photography: House Of Fraser, Meadowhall

Last week, I was fortunate to be asked to photograph the newly refurbished House Of Fraser store at the Meadowhall Centre in Sheffield by Gamma Illumination, the company who supplied the lighting.
I have to say the store looks amazing, much brighter and inviting than before and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Oulton Hall Wedding: Emma & Gary

Ceremony & Reception: Oulton Hall, Oulton, Leeds
A really laid-back wedding at a beautiful venue.
The weather decided to play games with us but we weren't going to let a bit of rain stop us using the lovely gardens at Oulton Hall as a backdrop.
A slightly unconventional wedding in some respects - no Best-Man's speech and no first dance but a great time was definitely had by all.
Evening entertainment was provided by crooner, Jamie Forth who was fantastic. If you closed your eyes, you'd swear Matt Munroe was in the room with you and his music perfectly summed up the whole relaxed atmosphere of the day.
Congratulations to Emma & Gary and thanks to everyone at Oulton Hall for a cracking day!

Clayton Cricket Club: Demolition Day

The big day finally arrived for Clayton Cricket Club when the old clubhouse was to be demolished to make way for a brand spanking new one. It's amazing, you ask for volunteers to do the teas on a Saturday afternoon and everyone's got a cast iron excuse but ask for volunteers to demolish the clubhouse and everyone's there at 7:30am on a drizzly October Saturday morning with a lump hammer in their hand, raring to get on with it!
I was asked to record the historic event (and the subsequent building work) for posterity and I have to say, it was a right laugh! Health and safety wasn't exactly top of the agenda but everyone got stuck in and the job was finished by 11:00am.
I've included a collection of images below but the full set can be seen on the club website:
