Clayton Cricket Club: Demolition Day

The big day finally arrived for Clayton Cricket Club when the old clubhouse was to be demolished to make way for a brand spanking new one. It's amazing, you ask for volunteers to do the teas on a Saturday afternoon and everyone's got a cast iron excuse but ask for volunteers to demolish the clubhouse and everyone's there at 7:30am on a drizzly October Saturday morning with a lump hammer in their hand, raring to get on with it!
I was asked to record the historic event (and the subsequent building work) for posterity and I have to say, it was a right laugh! Health and safety wasn't exactly top of the agenda but everyone got stuck in and the job was finished by 11:00am.
I've included a collection of images below but the full set can be seen on the club website:

Wentbridge House Wedding: Amy & Richard

Ceremony & Reception: Wentbridge House, Pontefract, West Yorkshire

It's really started to feel like Autumn now although, yet again, the rain held off when we needed it to and Amy wasn't going to let a few goosebumps stop her from having some nice shots in her wedding album!

There were plenty of guests to photograph so loads of opportunities for 'sniping' some candid shots with the big lens which always yields some interesting results. Unfortunately, there were quite a few spontaneous posers - those who immediately strike a pose as soon as they see the camera pointing at them - which doesn't make for great photographs! I might hire a camouflaged tent next time, just to be on the safe side!

Congratulations to Amy & Richard and thanks to them and the staff at Wentbridge House for an enjoyable day (especially the prawn sarnies!).

Hazlewood Castle Wedding | Samantha & Gary

Ceremony & Reception: Hazlewood Castle, Tadcaster, North Yorkshire
Blessing: St Leonard's Chapel, Hazlewood Castle

Second-shooting with Gav Harrison

All grooms reckon they are the luckiest man on Earth on their wedding day but Gary probably felt it more than most. Not only was he marrying the girl of his dreams but she had hired a DeLorean as a surprise to get him to the ceremony. He was absolutely thrilled!

After a small intimate ceremony in the castle, there was a more lavish blessing in the adjoining chapel. If anyone reading this is planning to get married, you won't get a better service anywhere else. The vicar is easily the nicest (and funniest) that I've encountered in all the weddings I've covered and the whole congregation joined in the fun.

After the blessing, it was straight outside for the confetti and group shots, which looked like they might be interrupted by rain but fortunately weren't. In fact the weather more-or-less behaved itself all day until the surprise fireworks display, when it absolutely chucked it down.

Overall, a stunning venue and a wonderful couple. Congratulations to Sam & Gary and thanks for a really enjoyable day.
