Location: Saltwick Bay, Whitby, North Yorkshire
After an early start at Saltburn (see previous post), Tim & I headed down the coast for a hearty breakfast in Whitby. After a good feed we made our way down to Saltwick Bay to wait for the tide to go out far enough for us to climb over the rocks on the beach and reach the wreck of the Admiral van Tromp, a trawler which ran aground close to Black Nab in October 1976 with the loss of 2 crew members.
The wreck is well known to keen photographers as being a great subject, with the twisted metal of the wreck and Black Nab looming behind, it is incredibly atmospheric.
