Second-shooting with Gav Harrison
As second shooter, it's my job to accompany the groom as he gets ready for the ceremony. This usually involves photographing him and his groomsmen as they get dressed and then capturing some nice shots of them in their finery.
I also need to get plenty of shots of details, such as the rings, buttonholes, cufflinks etc. Meanwhile, Gav is with the bride and the girls, doing much the same thing.
At the ceremony, I will usually be positioned discreetly at the back, while Gav is at the front.
After the ceremony, while Gav is organising group photos, I stand back with a big lens taking candid shots of individuals and small groups enjoying the day, children running around, etc.
After that, it's a case of going with the flow and capturing the day as it unfolds.
It's a long, busy day but enormous fun and incredibly rewarding. Not really like work at all.
